JORGENSEN  OVERVIEW: Strategic Marketing & Communications Design

Michael Jorgensen has carefully chosen his education and work experience to develop a healthy and holistic career as a strategic visual and marketing communications designer.

Starting with the fundamentals of art, he received his B.F.A. in in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, and continued with post-degree education at Emily Carr College of Art and Design, and at SFU School of Contemporary Arts, in photography, exhibition design, video production, and performance art. His expertise in new media, graphic design, marketing and communications fields were acquired in applied work experience as an employee and then as an instructor. Jorgensen's entrepreneurial spirit was utilized in starting his own advertising and design proprietorship [1998-present], and developed memorable, innovative and successful campaigns for North American companies in education, health, non-profit, real estate, and manufacturing & distributing companies.

Working collaboratively with other specialists, such as designers, writers and marketing associates, Jorgensen designs and produces the media for print and web for each campaign. He draws upon his expertise in pre-press technical requirements and leading marketing approaches to create highly successful, effective and memorable campaigns.

Jorgensen has nurtured new talent by teaching creative strategy, advertising copy writing, new media theory, graphic  design, advertising, video-editing and web site design for students at the University of Lethbridge, BCIT and other post-secondary institutions. Teaching has kept his skills current and honed in new visual communications technologies and marketing strategies.
